50 Day Challenge

BAM! It's time for the 50 day challenge. The 50 day challenge is officially a violin practice challenge -- practice every day for 50 days and receive laud and honor and magical prizes at the recital. TODAY IS DAY ONE. ARE YOU READY?

This year Benny and Sadie are BOTH doing the 50 day challenge, and Dan and I are also. Dan is doing 50 days of training on his bike, and I'm doing 50 days of diet, and my goal is to lose 20 pounds in 50 days. WOOT. Spare me the sanctimonious advice about how slow and steady and lifestyle change and diets don't whatever. This is the only way I've ever been able to lose weight -- like a zeppelin on fire. So, this is how it has to happen. Here's the terrible secret: The children *always* win the 50 day challenge (at least Benny always does -- this is Sadie's first try) and Dan *always* wins, and I *always* lose. I relentlessly lose, I lose before the first week is out, I lose spectacularly, but MAYBE THIS YEAR WILL BE DIFFERENT.

Well...I know that I always say I'll do the fifty day challenge, too, and I never, ever get through so much as a week, but here we go again.

What am I going to do? Uh...I'll restrict myself to fat free, sugar free nutrients and every day I'll walk for forty-five minutes.

  2. Losing weight like a zeppelin on fire would be the coolest way to lose weight ever. I have never heard of the 50 day challenge. I'll have to check it out.

  3. I've never actually seen a zepelin on fire, but I'll bet thats some serious motivation to lose weight.

Ironically I'm doing a 30 day of no caffeine challenge that started today.

  5. Good luck on the 50 day thing. I actually thought of some sanctimonious crap about slow and steady. Then I remembered that I have been running for 4 months and didn't lose a pound. So, I'll root for you on the 50 day thing and I'll keep running and hoping. LOL...I did get a medal at the end of my race though and I liked it-- but would have loved to be 20 pounds less, too!
